All the clinics in the Project are public, free at the point of access and non-denominational. There is no stipulated criteria for new clinics to join the network but we feel it is important to work with clinics and health centres that uphold the values of transparency, open-access and community participation.
Once the Project has consolidated its support for the existing twin relationships, we will be looking to scale up the Project with a further ten clinics. Suggestions for new clinics are welcome and we would particularly like to work with parts of Scotland and Malawi that are not currently represented.
We hope to have information pages for each clinic on the blog site in due course.
Hello
I am currently an FY2 doctor on placement at the Stockbridge Practice in Edinburgh. I graduated from Dundee. Instead of applying for speciality training at this stage I have opted to take sometime to see medicine in the field in areas where i may consider working in the future. I was really excited to hear about this project and relationship with Malawi. I have been studying for a Diploma in tropical medicine and have a background in the Armed Forces and media. If there is anyone out there who can point me in the right direction on how to possibly get an attachment in one of the clinics in Malawi, i’d be really grateful.
Many thanks
Saleyha Ahsan
Saleyha,
Thanks for your interest in the Project. We really welcome your enthusiasm. I’ll send you more detailed information to your email address.
Jemma
It looks you are doing very recommendable job. In Malawi this project is only being facilitated in the Sountern Region. I am a Librarian at Ekwendeni College of Health Sciences situated in the Northern Region of Malawi. My question now lies on why do you not extend this programmes to other regions of the country?
Once again thank you for your recommendable work in MALAWI for serving the vulnerable.
Thanks for your kind words. We have concentrated on Southern Malawi initially for logistic reasons. We have built the project slowly using personal links and don’t want to overstretch ourselves. In time we hope more and more Malawi Clinics can be linked to the Internet and would welcome working with others to acheive this.
I am salaried GP working in Edinburgh and i am interested in doing a sabbatical for 6 weeks in Malawi .The convenient time for me to leave my practice would be between Jan-March 2010 . Would there be any useful projects i could be involved in? Do you have any contacts who might be interested in a volunteer doctor?
Hi,
I am interested in knowing the no. of sites providing antenatal care and immunization sites for DPT1 vaccine.
I will be glad if you can provide me any information regarding this.
Thanks.
Hi, You have some really good articles on your blog. I also like the theme and the layout as well. excellent work!
Dear team,
I myself like Dr Ahsan am interested in getting involved. If you could send me some information that would be appreciated.
I am also an FY2 doctor in the UK.
Hi. I am a physiotheraist currently working in South Africa. I qualified 2 years ago and am now interested in joining such a programme. Would you kindly forward some additional information to me. Thank you
It’s perfect time to make some plans for the future and it’s time to be happy. I have read this post and if I could I want to suggest you few interesting things or suggestions. Perhaps you could write next articles referring to this article. I want to read even more things about it!
Nice post about CLINICS « Malawi Clinics. I am very impressed with the time and effort you have put into writing this story. I will give you a link on my social media blog. All the best!
