The peoples of Scotland and Malawi are working together to help each other. Scottish GP Practices and Malawian Health Clinics are establishing ‘twin links’ to share experiences of the work they do. With support from the Scottish Executive and the Scotland Malawi Partnership we are encouraging practices and clinics to share expertise using the internet. Staff from Malawian government run clinics will have the opportunity to access educational materials for themselves and for patients.
By using a ‘blog’ format staff in Scotland and in Malawi can ‘post’ case studies, problems and discussion about their work. Individual practice/clinic pairings will have their own blog, and a central repository of useful materials will be available on this core blog. We hope to narrate our work online to build a community of practices, clinics and other people and organisations with a common interest.
Zingwangwa Health Centre, Blantyre is twinned with Westgate Medical Practice, Dundee, Scotland. There are 9 other clinic/practice pairings – blogs to appear soon.
We have a flickr photo album with photos of the practices, clinics, and the people who work in them. You are welcome to contribute.
